I haven't got deep feedback aside from the hair itself is lacking highlights, but what I actually recommend is that you develop on this concept. I'd love to see a game idea or such where you take this character, and have her explore deep underwaterish levels dodging frogs by leaping over them or stunning them.

NeoValo responds:

Thanks! Yeah I see what you mean, without highlights the hair looks a bit flat. I'd love to make it a game but I'm no programmer, but I could probably make it a series of small 4koma or something.

Just going to try and help you get a few more eyes set on this piece, because I quite like it. It's got really solid color composition, great expressions and really nice detailing. If you don't mind, what's the story behind this one? I see MegaDrive so I'm curious

thanks for the kind words. it's for a tribute album celebrating the music of Gunstar Heroes.

Wow you really got the boss down so damn well. especially that feeling that it's sort of coming apart.

BastianConst responds:

Thank-you kindly :D

You did them all justice right there. If only Gen 2 didn't get shot in the head before it could even fly by Lego's interference before launch. There was such potential to really remake G1's first 3 years to heart but too bad. Anyway great job.

EDIT: Yeah I found out a bit about it. It's clear that the writers and artists had bigger plans for G2 that were true to the start of G1, but Lego slapped all of that down.

nathanandersonart responds:

I had a couple of the Gen 2 figures, but not much beyond that-- wasn't aware of any controversy!

GAME! lol

Really like this piece, however it really needs shading. (I don't mind the slight bit of roughness to it, I think people try too hard to make pixel art "clean" but lose it's soul.)
Give it some highlights, make the darker tones darker and the lighter tones lighter. It will really help in making the piece stand out more visually.

hamesapost responds:

oh yeah, definitely; Thanks for the feedback dude!

The colour use on this skull is pretty solid (very much your style) as well as the anatomy being really quite on point.
My only gripe is that it could of used more dynamic perspective and exaggeration upon it to give it a bit more "life". But that's a real minor gripe. Nice job dude.

maruki responds:

Thank you for your kind words.

What is the story actually? I'm quite curious. Also this piece could use a bit of refinement and maybe even darker shading to really make the lighting stand out massively (and sell the emotion of guilt more)
But I like it. So good job :D

rotcivsette responds:

Thanks! I was challenging myself with those pieces to use just one shading and a base color. Even limited lighting, to see what I could achieve with less time.
Their story is linked to my game, Relic Guardians: Complete. It's a relation of a daughter watching over her dead father's portrait.

Pretty solid anime look on the chick actually. What inspired you to make this piece. Also lovely clouds.
(and what game are you making?)

Ioruko responds:

Thanks. There's a Japanese legend called "Crane's return of a favor" (Tsuru no Ongaeshi), that was the direct inspiration for this piece.
I posted some art for the game earlier. It's a narrative driven game.

WE'LL TAKE ON THAT MECHANICAL MENACE. WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
