Pretty hilarious name, could use stronger lighting though and more detailing. I like the teeth's subtle yellowing.

Thanks for the advice. I have been looking for more ways to improve my pixel art skills.

Fun eye guy

That's a Binding of Issac but highly detailed if I ever saw one. Nice job, really sells the "adorable look" but combined with this grittiness that gives it justice.

Ooooooooo he's so adorable.
(yes I find this eel adorable, I'd like to throw him at my foes)

Fun design, feels quite Hollow Knighty or Kirby ish.

blackhook responds:

I can see how it is kirby-ish, but how is it like Hollow Knight?

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I get the idea behind it, but tbh due to the colour choices it kinda looks like a rotting carrot.
Maybe adjust the colours so that it looks more like pastry, using some pale yellows and such and removing the pale greenish browns.Keep the tints of aqua, but it's mainly that weird pale brown that is kinda causing this effect.
I like the shape of it and the touches like the hearts, and usually your work is quite solid but the colours need work.

EDIT: It's mostly due to the imbalance of certain colours. The palette itself works well, but you overloaded a mild darkest shade colour and made it a primary colour which it doesn't work in this case.

maruki responds:

Sure, the palette however is the same from my latest pie piece, which was praised for its color choices. I made this as yet another color study because I felt that this very same palette needed work on another subject besides the pie dough. I reckon it failed, the study was valid nonetheless.

I do quite like this highly detailed shading then fading into a solid black, it's really quite clean and give an intense vibe. Got any story behind this character?

DeadlySunshine responds:

Sadly I don't got back story for him, neither do any of my other characters, but thank you anyway!

Gonna give some criticism here. The concept ain't bad, but your skull is real rough at the front. Specifically because of the eye sockets aren't properly defined (you basically did banned shading when an eye socket is a spherical dome, which makes no sense for what you're doing)
To fix this issue, just simply make the eye sockets really dark, and define the edges of the eye socket on the inside thinly, like imagine it as like the edges of a wall around a black pit. Same with the nose, the nose is like a sharp edged pit, not a soft edged one.

Another thing is the teeth, they aren't well defined in 3D space, they should be following a curvature where there's a "front" and then "sides". Make sure you more strongly define the front set of teeth and the sides And there's no jaw bones, which make it seem weird.
Also, the blood from the from the eyes could be a bit thinner splitting off and follow the face's curvature a bit more, and the lighting is a bit rough. You should treat the blood like thick "waves" that drip down, rather than lines that don't really follow the flowing down the fact at all.

You have potential, and I give points for that., and to give some positive I think the side of the skull actually looks quite nice, got this strong shadow that gives it depth, the front of the skull is also fine aside from the anatomy and the background is nice. And the concept itself, is good too, it just needs refinement.

VincentTheBadGuy responds:

All good points! Thanks for the feedback!
(And sorry for the late reply, more than a paragraph of text scare me)
