The laser bleeds from his eye as it's the last thing you see.

Really like this piece, however it really needs shading. (I don't mind the slight bit of roughness to it, I think people try too hard to make pixel art "clean" but lose it's soul.)
Give it some highlights, make the darker tones darker and the lighter tones lighter. It will really help in making the piece stand out more visually.

hamesapost responds:

oh yeah, definitely; Thanks for the feedback dude!

The idea ain't bad, but this one feels a bit too rough and the mob's really small. I really like the blaze rods and the effect, but the face feels like a 2D image drawn crudely, refine the expression, make it OFF THE WALL intense. Since the idea for the face seems cool, it just needs to be more refined. Also don't drop all your art in one day, drop it once a day so that you're not "dropping a bomb" of work and then having nothing for ages. Will help with your visibility.

Creative reinterpretation of the design, I like it. Also it should have horns. Only recommendation is make the sprite larger next time, so you can fit in more details and exaggeration. This guy is a boss, he should FEEL like a boss. But cool fire effect in his chest too. make the skulls have light on them from it though next time. Anyway, cool art.

The colour use on this skull is pretty solid (very much your style) as well as the anatomy being really quite on point.
My only gripe is that it could of used more dynamic perspective and exaggeration upon it to give it a bit more "life". But that's a real minor gripe. Nice job dude.

maruki responds:

Thank you for your kind words.

What is the story actually? I'm quite curious. Also this piece could use a bit of refinement and maybe even darker shading to really make the lighting stand out massively (and sell the emotion of guilt more)
But I like it. So good job :D

rotcivsette responds:

Thanks! I was challenging myself with those pieces to use just one shading and a base color. Even limited lighting, to see what I could achieve with less time.
Their story is linked to my game, Relic Guardians: Complete. It's a relation of a daughter watching over her dead father's portrait.

Really like that quite unique lighting effect there. Gives a real feel for physicality. Only issue is I think the shading can be a bit darker to really make the lighting pop out dramatically. Also next time you should also export a large version of the sprite as well as the native.

May this knight feel proud. For he has done a great service.

Pretty solid anime look on the chick actually. What inspired you to make this piece. Also lovely clouds.
(and what game are you making?)

Ioruko responds:

Thanks. There's a Japanese legend called "Crane's return of a favor" (Tsuru no Ongaeshi), that was the direct inspiration for this piece.
I posted some art for the game earlier. It's a narrative driven game.

A man chasing a star in the sky. Chase your dreams, even if you set aflame for them. Because they are what fuel your heart.
