I actually like this, it's really beefy and chunky of a weapon. And there's actually some unexpected enemy types I usually don't expect to see in this type of game. As well as the nuance of needing to REALLY protect yourself over the planet because you die in one hit and you can't come back. Good job dude, you should really expand on this idea more in future.

Thank you for the nice review, TankTheta!
If I had more time I think I would have added some more elements, maybe even some object types floating by that are neutral, but interact in odd ways with the other objects. Glad you enjoyed it!

Sorry man, this is just awful to control. It unironically gives alot of motion sickness and the audio looping makes it even rougher. I know it's a LudumDare, but man this is rough. I say clean up this idea in future and make a proper thing out of it. Also I like hand drawn assets, you could evolve on that in future.

Hey TankTheta, i've added a settings menu. Would be great if you could test it and give me some feedback :)

It's actually not bad, though I'd really like to see the game's concept expanded upon into an actual game. I like this solid grid like movement and the ability to bait certain enemies. I think that gives it some engagement. If you took this idea and make dodging levels and have more complex enemies including some that move like the player that would work really well. Like up and down darters, etc etc.

FadrikAlexander responds:

Thanks for playing and for the feedback, I've created this game as a small project/challenge for me but I'm considering now the idea of going in and expand on the game and make a full version of it.

I enjoyed it, though I feel it was a bit too simple and there were some situations where I was forced to take damage not because of earlier choices causing me to, but because of just a completely unavoidable event.
I think you should make all events able to be dealt with with the right resource. Also you should really clarify the importance of camping, I didn't realise until after I lost two people to an instant death event that I had to manually put in their batteries.
And I think you should make more interesting situations rather than minigames. And also make the overworld actually do something a bit more, since most of the time waiting didn't really seem like anything would happen, and it basically didn't.
Still, I enjoyed it, it just needs more meat on the bones. It's got good atmosphere.

HelperWesley responds:

Thanks for playing. :)

Maybe I can add a line that specifically says "check your camp before you set out" or something in the beginning text blurb, that might help with that.

I do notice the very obvious RPG Maker assets. I mean if you're going to make a game, perhaps put some more effort in on the visual side. However I can tell you you are trying to do some good with the mechanics. But it really needs some polish.

studlytheknight2 responds:

Thanks for the comment. I will try to keep your critique in mind as I attempt to improve.

Pretty solid game actually, got a real good set of powerups, enemies are fun and goofy, it feels like overwhelming odds.
Only issue is not being able to see my health, it seems silly not to be able to.

Gypopothomas responds:

Well, can you see your health in real life!? Thought not! Naw, only messing. You should be able to see some hearts up in the top left. I screwed something up here. I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks for the feedback!

Eh. I mean tbh this seems like it's literally just a quicktime simulator shitpost. (Got B tho)
I can respect the meme quality of it but I just can't really engage with it. Probably because I'm not in on this whole "clock meme". I would of preferred something like One Finger Death Punch, because at least that has more than just holding down and releasing a single button.
Anyway, have a good one tho.

Chdonga responds:

One Finger Death Punch? I'll check it out later.

But yeah I was actually planning to put in more gimmicks than just the occasional fakeout but I was strapped for time. Maybe if I make a sequel for Clock Day 2021 I'll make the fights a little more fancy.

Endearing game, I feel you should develop on it. I like the slower paced bullet hell and the mechanic of their own death bullets hitting other enemies. Good Crowd control.
All I say is just evolve it further and make a story mode rather than a endless mode.

Prox276 responds:

Thanks! I'm currently working on a roguelike inspired by this game... My own game

Seems okay, but not really my thing personally. I think the aesthetics are a bit too generic for me. But the Puzzles themselves seem alright, though a bit clunky.

larrynachos responds:

Yeah, the graphics are simple and the levels are sloppy. The minigames are where the fun is! I also enjoy playing around in the level editor, but I guess others don't find it as fun.

Thanks for the review!

I quite enjoyed the game, though I consider it quite clunky with it main gimmick. It felt that you had to hold the ray on things too long, and while you have just enough time to use it again, it felt unreliable at times. The last section is a great example of that. And the platforms too, half the time it felt it wasn't working.
I wish there were more creative uses of it, but for the limited time you guys did quite well. I would love to see this concept expanded up and refined.

Jumping was consistent for the most part, but one or two situations the jump felt a little too short, especially in the "tower". I think that however is more bad level design rather than the mechanic itself being a problem.
And, uh, is there an ending for the game? I feel like there should be but I found everything and even went back to the machine but nothing happened.
The art was solid though, as an animator myself I can appreciate the feeling of character and the time gun itself added to that. Making enemies turn to skeletons or eggs is really fun. The music was as well, having a strong intensity to it.
For a Gamejam you did a pretty damn good job. I participated in a GameJam quite recently myself (as character artist), and while I completed all the character, enemy and boss art, the game ended up a real mess due to the time limit, poor coders. So I know how intense it can be.

Great job.

Noeloskar responds:

Thanks, there's is ending to the game, you have to collect all 6 of gems, you probably missed that
